African Palliative Care Association

Register now for APCA’s 2010 Conference

APCA invites the palliative care community from Africa and overseas to its third triennial conference, in Windhoek, Namibia, from 15-17 September 2010. You can now register online at www.apca-windhoek2010.com.

The conference theme, Creativity in Practice, reflects both the current reality of palliative care provision on the continent – which demands a great deal of creativity from its overstretched practitioners – and the resourcefulness we will all need to draw on in the future if we want to realise APCA’s vision of high-quality palliative care for all in Africa who need it.

APCA’s conferences are a lynchpin for palliative care provision in Africa. They bring together the continent’s clinical practitioners and national associations; people who make decisions that affect palliative care funding, availability and teaching; supporters and donors from beyond Africa, and technical experts in fields such as advocacy, research, organisational development, communications and fundraising.

In particular, Creativity in Practice will serve as a forum for delegates to identify key trends, challenges and opportunities; exchange knowledge and experience; explore new approaches and ways forward; influence key decision makers in palliative care provision; build support networks among colleagues, and develop skills through expert-led workshops.

APCA believes that the conference will generate even greater confidence and motivation among Africa’s palliative care community, and renewed belief that their dedication and hard work will achieve palliative care – the kind of care we’d all want for ourselves and our families – for all those who need it. We look forward to welcoming you in Windhoek.
